The Secret’s Out: How To Become A Morning Person!

From the moment you become a mom, you also become an early riser. Babies and children don’t always sleep well, and even when they do, they always seem to get up early. So once you become a parent, for the most part, you can kiss goodbye to those lovely lay-ins, snuggled up in your comfy, cozy bed. Which means that it’s important to become a morning person - as learning to love getting up earlier will make those hectic school run mornings that little bit easier.

The question is, of course, how can you go about doing that - learning to love early mornings? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with my list of tips and ideas for learning to become more of a morning person.

Get out of bed the minute the alarm sounds

Whatever you do, don’t snooze your alarm - it’s a recipe for disaster. If you want to ensure that you get up when you should do, it’s a good idea to get out of bed the minute your alarm sounds. Otherwise, the chances are that you will end up going back to sleep again.

Get up earlier than the kids

One of the biggest mistakes that you can make when it comes to mornings is getting up at the same time as the kids. The last thing you want is to have to fight to get into the bathroom or struggle to have time to do your hair and makeup. So, with that in mind, it’s best to get up earlier than the kids, to give yourself time to prepare for the day. Say, for example, your kids get up at 7 am, aim to get up at least 45-minutes before them. That way you will have time to take a shower, get dressed without rushing, do your hair, and do anything else that helps to prepare you for the day.

Start the day with a nice cup of coffee

To wake yourself up in the morning, start the day with a nice energy-boosting cup of coffee. Once you’re up and dressed, make getting a coffee the first thing that you do. As a busy mom, you deserve a nice cup of coffee in the morning, which is why you shouldn’t settle for the cheap supermarket stuff. You deserve real coffee, especially as studies have shown freshly ground coffee gives you a bigger energy boost - and as a mom with a hectic life, you need all the energy you can get. If you’re yet to get a proper coffee machine, make sure to research coffee maker with grinder reviews, to ensure that whatever machine you pick, you make the right choice. However you choose to drink your coffee - in an espresso shot, mixed into a milky latte, or black with milk on the side, it doesn’t matter, just as long as you’re getting your caffeine kick.

Spend 20-minutes doing yoga

Research has shown that practicing yoga after waking up can be a great way to help prepare your mind and body for the day. By taking a time to stretch and relax, you can help to alleviate stress and give your mind and body the wake up that it needs. For short, morning workouts, YouTube can be a great resource to use.

Yes, early mornings can be a nightmare, but if you are willing to take note of the tips and ideas above, you can make it a little easier to wake up earlier.
