Moist Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

Thank God it's Friday! For a mom like me, I am thankful for Fridays because it's the last day of the school week which means, I don't have to wake up early the next day to attend to 3 kids for school. I am really not a morning person, I struggle to get up from the bed every day. So, yay for Fridays!!!!

Anyhow, last Friday, June 29, I planned a last minute little surprise for the husband for our 6th Wedding Anniversary (June 30). Just a short kwento, several months before our anniversary, we planned on having an out of town celebration, and Cebu was on top of our list. Good thing though that we weren't able to book airfare tickets right away, a lot of things had happened, Tristan has some troubles at school (which I would like to write about some other time), we are now a household without a helper (for more than a month now) so I have to quit my job and  become a stay at home mom again.

So technically, we didn't have anything planned out for our anniversary because of how busy our household is and also few weeks prior, I have already committed to attending an event with Sanicare on the day of our anniversary. We just had dinner after the event. But, I was feeling extra and surprised Jaear with a banana with cream cheese frosting cake that I personally baked.

No, I am not a kitchen diva, I cook because I don't have a choice (hahaha) kidding aside, I love cooking but I only know a few recipes so, thanks Google! Aside from cooking, Google also though me how to bake.

This is not really my first time baking banana cake, I began baking 2 years ago but it sure is my first time making one with the frosting. So on the 29th, I searched Google for the easiest recipe for the frosting then whipped it that night so it could be ready when Jaear gets home around 1AM of June 30, 2018.

And as promised, whenever I learned something new, I'd gladly share it with you mommas. So here's an easy recipe for a banana cake with cream cheese frosting.

Banana Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white or brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter or 1 cup cooking oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 medium-sized bananas, 3 if large
  • 2 cups cake flour or all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 crushed almonds
Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 190 ℃
2. Mash the bananas
3. Beat eggs in a mixing bowl
3. Add the bananas and oil on the beaten egg. Continue to mix until the ingredients are well blended. Set aside.
4. On a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and almonds. Mix well.
5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the banana mixture. Continue to fold until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
6. Add the vanilla extract.
7. Grease a 9x13 pan (Two 9-inch round cake pans or two 8-inch square cake pans) then pour the mixture on it.
8. Bake for 40 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test
9. Remove from the oven and let it cool down.

Take note that if you are using a disposable aluminum pan like this, you have to adjust your baking time 10 minutes shorter, perform the toothpick before 30 minutes because it may already be baked.
While waiting for the banana cake to cool, prepare the frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 package (8oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer, since I don't have one I made use of Tupperware Brands Speedy Chef- it's like a manual mixer.
2. Add vanilla, then occasionally stir in powdered sugar until frosting is a thick spreadable consistency.
3. Spread or pipe frosting on cooled cake.
4. Top with crushed almonds.

That's it! It's super easy and it tastes good. Though the banana cake was a bit dense however it was moist. Actually, this is not the original recipe that I used to bake. My original banana cake recipe was more fluffy than this. The thing is, I wasn't able to back up the recipe when we reset my old iPhone 5s. Since I am not a baker, I can't figure out which ingredients should I lessen or add more.  Could it be because I used a different pan size? The recipe calls for 9x13 pan but since I don't have one I used a smaller square pan which I guess was around 8 inch. And, instead of using 2 pans I poured all the cake batter in one pan. Lol! I'm going to try this again with some changes and will update this post. Nevertheless, it turned out to be a decent cake which the whole family enjoyed!

I'm so glad that I was able to pull off this little surprise for the husband for our 6th Wedding Anniversary instead of buying a ready-made cake. Something with a personal touch and baked with love, that makes it special. I am really happy whenever I do something for my family. I guess that's our nature as a mom, noh?

Do you have a different banana cake recipe to share? Would love to hear about it!

Enjoy the weekend!

Quick and Easy Ulam Idea: Tuna Nuggets

Hi, there momma! Surely, your search for the easiest and quickest ulam ideas possible got you here. I feel you, momma, I guess meal planning is every moms' trouble, right? I can cook but I am no expert and the number of ulam recipes I know is very limited. With that, we end up having a certain meal for each day of the week and then just repeat the same menu every week. Boo! Hey, that's better than nothing right mommas? A mom's got to do what a moms' gotta do to keep the family alive. Lol!

I was searching the world wide web one day for new ulam ideas that I can add on my list and got overwhelmed with the number of searches that I got. It surely took up a lot of my time and energy. Hah! And, among all the recipes I was able to search this one is the easiest one to whip plus we have all the ingredients readily available in the pantry so Tuna Nuggets it is.

And of course, sharing is caring so I'd like to share the super easy peasy recipe with all of you mommas.

TUNA NUGGETS

Ingredients:

2 packs of any brand of saltine crackers
2 canned tuna - any brands
minced garlic and onions
2 tbsp of flour
1-2 eggs
cooking oil for frying
salt and pepper (optional)

Instructions:

1. Crush the saltine crackers
2. Mix all ingredients together
3. Add salt and pepper according to your taste
3 Heat the pan and fry 1 tbsp of the mixture until golden brown
4. Placed cooked tuna nuggets on a kitchen towel to drain excess oil
5. Serve with your choice of dip and rice!

That was easy! Then I just paired it up with Knorr's Crab and Corn soup and we already have a decent meal. Most importantly, the husband and the kids liked it.

Not only is this recipe easy to prepare but it also tastes good and affordable. So the next time that you are time-crunched or just want to try something new, try this Tuna Nuggets recipe.

I'll try other recipes and will share it with yo again soon mommas. Do you mind sharing you ulam ideas too? I'm desperate! Haha!

The RealReal Combines Luxury With Consignment

Authenticity is one of the prime elements missing from the second-hand clothing industry. Sure there are good authentic products to be found but most people would rather not spend the time to sort through the mess that most stores have on display. The RealReal attempts to redefine this under-appreciated industry by transforming second-hand consignment into a boutique experience.

The authenticity of leather bags can be determined in multiple ways and it mostly comes down to the quality of leather. Even the smell of the leather, in which fakes have a strong chemical smell, can determine a fake item. An article in the New Yorker had detailed their workshops on how to spot fake luxury goods. The RealReal has been conducting free workshops for customers and fashion enthusiasts to get educated about knock-off products.

The idea of fakes being present in everyone's closet is not entirely absurd. It is easier than ever to import fake products from China to resell online and unsuspecting people end up buying them. Many RealReal locations will be swarmed by fake items coming in and many of them are from regular people. If you received a gift from a friend, it still may be questionable.

Julie Wainwright has been behind the RealReal since 2011 and had mostly been an online business. This high-value entrepreneur had luck with other e-commerce ventures in the past and her knowledge took this brand sky high in no-time.

Second-hand shops will typically have to sell mass products to make a profit since most people come in with the expectation of spending very little. This is why you see piles of unkempt clothes and racks without labels for low-budget shoppers to sort through. Boutiques that deal with high-value luxury items certainly is not common.

What Julie's company does is take luxury brands, authenticates them and puts them on display in the best light possible. You can see their passion for quality by browsing through their website. Each item is professionally photographed and a lot of love is put into the description. The quality is so great that most buyers are normal retail shoppers looking for a good deal.

According to Julie, trying to offload luxury goods on eBay, Amazon or local consignment shops is a pure nightmare. There are so many risks and you will be left with underwhelming bids on your product. The RealReal chases high-value customers to get higher profit margins for their clients.

Since the founding of their website, over 8 million users have registered and at least have been active.
It is harder to get online users to cosign their items on the internet, which explains them expanding to brick & mortar locations in New York and California.

The RealReal may not be for everyone but there is certainly a factor of convenience by not having to dig through clothes at regular second-hand stores. Their stores offer a unique experience of boutique displays that match many high-end fashion stores in New York.

It will be likely that more stores will be popping up under this brand since hundreds of millions from venture capital companies have been invested. A recent example is a large venture capital company had pumped an additional $50 million into the company in 2017. The previous year was rather successful with over $500 million in revenue for just a second-hand dealer.

Alalay mo sa Eskwela ko: A Back-to-School Campaign by SOS Children's Village

It's back-to-school season once more. Upon reading this, you might have already enrolled your children in their respective schools or they might have started attending their classes today. I couldn't stress enough how important education is and it's one of the best gifts we can give our children.

Unfortunately, here in our country, not all people are privileged enough to go to school. Philippines, is the 13th most populated country in the world, and according to wordometers, the 2018 population is 106,434,943. It has also been reported that 21.6% of Philippines' population lives below the national poverty line in 2015 and has increased over time. This is a heartbreaking truth. However, I believe that the government is doing its best to address the key issues this country is facing especially regarding education.

There are also private and non-political organizations that provide help and seek to improve the lives of the underprivileged. I have always wanted to do charity works but I don't know how or where to start. I've always thought about going out in the fields to help, do volunteer works or donating money. For a stay at home mom to three little kids without a household helper, that could be an impossible mission. But I thought to myself, help can be done in so many ways. And, right now I am glad to have partnered with SOS Children's Villages in promoting their cause of giving a home to orphaned, abandoned, neglected Filipino children.

SOS Children's Villages is a private, non-political, non-denominational organization that provides long-term family-based care to children in need. Today, SOS Children's Villages is located in 134 countries and territories around the world. The 571 SOS Children’s Villages are home to most of the approximately 86,000 children and young adults in a family-based care program. They also work in the communities to provide support and intervention to families at risk of breaking down. More than 467,000 people participate in a family strengthening programs.

In the Philippines, the first SOS Children’s Villages was founded on May 1, 1967 in the province of Batangas. Now they have 8 villages spread across the country, and there are almost 1,200 children and young adults who live in their family-based care program. In the communities, they give support and intervention to approximately 2,100 families.

This back-to-school season, SOS Children's Villages has an ongoing campaign which is entitled "Alalay mo sa Eskwela ko". It was launched last May 28, 2018. It aims to provide the educational needs of 5,600 children who are at risk of losing parental care, and 1,100 abandoned, neglected, and orphaned children who now live in their 8 villages spread across the Philippines.

All donations will provide for the children's back-to-school kit such as notebooks, pencils, ballpens, paper, coloring materials, shoes, and bags.

As a mother, I have a soft spot for children. It breaks my heart seeing children along the streets sleeping, begging for alms and worst they end up being hooligans. I hope we all work hand in hand to make this world a better place. A little help could really go along way.

"Every child deserves to have the best educational opportunities possible, but many lack the tools needed to succeed.

Will you help give them a brighter future?"

FERN-C kidz- Our Kids' Daily Immunity Buddy.

Every parent is well aware of the feeling of wanting to protect our family at all costs. We want them to be happy, healthy and full of life, and achieving that can sometimes seem like something of an impossible mission. But isn't it a wonder how we, parents manage to pull it off?

Life can get pretty busy and complicated at times, especially to working parents just like my husband and I. We can't be physically there 24/7 for our kids but we would never ever take 3 things for granted; education, time, and most of all their health.

These 3 things go hand in hand together. When kids are healthy, they are happy and they can perform well in school. And as a mom, I would like to maximize the quality time we spend together and minimize the stress of having to deal with sick kids. So, it is my goal to instill healthy habits to my family. Our children's behavior and lifestyle are learned from us. And these should be the legacies we’re happy to pass down to them.

I have been explaining to my children the importance of being healthy. In the house, I have been an advocate of having an active lifestyle by consistently exercising. I am happy that I have influenced my husband to exercise too at least thrice a week if not daily. I've also participated in some fun runs. At an early age, our children already know how exercising can help them become healthy and fit. They even join us during some of our sessions. We try our best to limit their screen time and get them to play physically, even it is just a simple running, going to the playground and swimming with life vests on since they still don't know how to swim on their own. Jaear and I are actually discussing some sports they can engage into. The kids though have been expressing their interests as well. Tristan likes taekwondo so is Athena who also likes ballet, Brianna, on the other hand, likes gymnastics.

Apart from an active lifestyle, a healthy diet is of equal importance. They know what is healthy and unhealthy food though I admit there are cheat days so we coined them as sometimes food. Among the 3 of them, Brianna loves veggies the most.

On top of what we get from our diet, it is recommended that we still let our kids take Vitamin C supplements to help boost their immunity and protect them from sickness and diseases.

And, when it comes to Vitamin C supplements, I strongly encourage moms na "Silipin ang C- we should always check the quality of the Vitamin C that we give our kids". As for me, I only give my kids FERN- C kidz.

Why FERN- C kidz?
  • FERN-C kidz is made with the same Sodium Ascorbate found in the FERN-C the Number 1 Sodium Ascorbate Vitamin C which is safe for children to take on a daily basis.
  • Each bottle of FERN-C kidz is marked with the Quali-C seal, which certifies it of quality and effectivity. This ensures every mom out there that this Vitamin C supplement is safe, secure and efficient
  • FERN-C kidz also contains Zinc for added protection.
  • It has a yummy orange flavor that kids love!

With FERN-C kidz, I am confident that I am addressing the top 3 priorities when it comes to our kids' and that is by providing them the protection they needed even in times when their dad and I aren't around. Fern-C kidz helps me prioritize our kids’ health, to help them enjoy their education and the quality time we spend together as a family.

So Mommies, always remember "Silipin ang C" and choose your kids’ daily immunity buddy wisely!

5 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT #HANGINFECTION THAT WILL SURPRISE YOU

#HANGINfection is not just a hype. These tiny, invisible germs in the air are real, and they are around us. These tiny, invisible germs in the air are real, and they are around us. Yes, even if you don’t touch germs, the germs can touch you! While we can’t see them with our naked eye, it does not mean we can’t fight them.

The more we know about #HANGINfection, the more we can protect ourselves. That’s why Safeguard, Philippine’s Number 1 Family Skin Germ Protection Soap, is taking active steps to spread awareness about these airborne germs.

Here are 5 bet-you-didn’t-know facts about #HANGINfection that can change the way we protect ourselves against airborne germs.

1. #HANGINfection can travel from one place to another.

Winds transport #HANGINfection from places to places. When it blows, airborne germs can enter your home through the tiny open spaces in your door or window.

#HANGINfection can stay airborne for long periods of time. It can even survive for days or up to a week.

2. The scientific name of #HANGINfection is bioaerosols.

Science calls it bioaerosols. Bioaerosols contain living organisms and/or are released by living organisms. If that sounds too scientific for you, you can just simply refer to it as #HANGINfection.

3. #HANGINfection contains viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

Yes! These living organisms we mentioned earlier can include bacteria such as Legionella, Staphylococcus, Leptospira, Bacillus; viruses such as influenza and rhinovirus; and fungi such as Aspergillus and Histoplasmsa. In short, #HANGINfection equals germs in the air. The good news here is that we can protect ourselves from germs, right?

4. #HANGINfection is around us and it comes from different sources– even ourselves!

We may not see them with the naked eye, but #HANGINfection is everywhere. Since it also comes from living organisms, these tiny airborne particles are most prevalent in areas with many people and animals, including damp locations.

Sources of #HANGINfection are so ubiquitous that it can come from soil, organic debris, humidifiers, industrial pollution, farming and even ourselves!

This is the reason why we’re taught to cover our mouths when we cough and sneeze. Each time we don’t, germs can travel in the air through droplets. This leads us to our number four fact!

5. Without proper protection, HANGINfection can cause skin infection and other diseases.

Just like ordinary germs, #HANGINfection can irritate the skin, which could lead to skin infections such as pimples and acne. It can also be the culprit for respiratory diseases as well as gastrointestinal infections and other illnesses. Then again, there’s nothing to worry about it with proper protection!

This is why we need to make sure that we are protected against airborne germs all day. When it comes to germ protection, only one soap is on top of our mind – Safeguard.

#HANGINfection is something we don’t need to worry about when we regularly wash with Safeguard. The nation’s number one soap gives up to 24 hours of germ protection even from #HANGINfection. It’s part of the soap brand’s commitment to providing our first line of defense against germs for over 50 years now.

Just recently, Safeguard partnered with Pambansang Bae Alden Richards to release a music video “I Wash It That Way,” which aims to spread awareness about #HANGINfection or airborne germs.

Goodbye LAWLAW, GO GALAW With The New and Improved PAMPERS BABY DRY!

Brianna excitedly unboxed the surprise box of the new and improved Pampers Baby Dry and asked if she can wear it. Haha! Gone are the diaper days for us but I can vividly recall those precious time when my now toddlers are still babies. And, all of them got to use Pampers, it's one of our to-go-to diaper brands.

Choosing the best diaper for our babies could be a tricky task as there are a lot of diaper brands nowadays. In choosing the right diaper, we must take into consideration our babies motor development. Studies have shown that learning to walk without any bulk in the body may be the best. All that bulk in lawlaw diapers compromises balance as he or she learns to walk. Moving, playing, and walking are crucial for baby’s growth and development. Unrestrained movement allows babies to discover the world, and learn like there’s no tomorrow.

When babies pee, wetness is often accumulated in a single spot on the diaper. This causes the lawlaw! Moms know that when the diaper sags, it’s full and time to change. The diaper is wasted because all the wetness is concentrated in one spot, instead of spreading through the whole diaper. The accumulated wetness increases the likelihood of leaks so if diaper easily sags, moms end up changing the diaper more often and spending more.

Pampers understands that lawlaw is a major problem for moms and babies alike. This is why Pampers introduced a new and improved Pampers-Dry, now with magic gel channels which are found in the Premium Care line. These new cores absorb wetness faster and distribute it evenly throughout the whole diaper preventing sagging. This does not only offer overnight dryness but makes the diaper thinner and drier, putting an end to lawlaw, and promotes unrestrained movement for your baby.

Since Brianna won't be wearing the diapers, we put the new and improved Pampers Baby Dry by doing the Bowl Test.

Here's the short video which I also uploaded on my YouTube channel:

Every mom would want to keep her baby dry and comfortable for a longer time, it also means less diaper changes in between, and most of all, focus on quality bonding with her baby, as he moves and learns to go galaw.

So mommies have you tried the new and improved Pampers Baby Dry yet? Share you experience below.

Home Comforts That No Family Can Live Without

It’s an old cliché but, when dealing with the family home, comfort really is king. If your castle is ever going to be considered fit for royalty, those simple joys need to be your priority at all times. Master these elements below, and everything else should soon fall into place.

A Good Temperature

While it might not be something we always appreciate, the room temperature and air circulation are vital for the home’s vibe. Nobody wants to be sat on the sofa wearing three or four layers of clothing, for example. Stay on top of your HVAC needs with these simple tricks for ongoing home comfort. Fail to do this, and the whole property can become unbearable.

A Feeling Of Safety

Your home is a place where you should be able to rest without a care in the world. The knowledge that your home is susceptible to a break-in is enough to give anyone sleepless nights. Investing in the right alarms and security features to maintain the advantage over burglars and thieves is vital. Meanwhile, anyone living in flood-prone locations should consider this factor too.

A Good Water Pressure

We use the home for a whole host of daily activities. However, showering and bathing are close to the top of that list. A plumber will quickly boost the pressure and ensure that all water movement facilities are in good health. Frankly, this simple source of joy can make a world of difference after a tough day at work. Moreover, it could save valuable time in the mornings.

A Comfortable Bed

The average person spends eight hours sleeping each night. By starting and ending the day in good style, your whole life (not just at home) will see huge rewards. Finding the best mattress should always be considered the priority. Combine this with a positive bedroom environment, including thick drapes, for optimum benefits.

A Sense Of Belonging

When you buy a property, you invest in a new lifestyle. The neighborhood is a crucial element of this, and feeling accepted by the community is pivotal. Without necessarily being best mates, you should enjoy friendly relationships with neighbors. Get to know the surroundings by visiting local attractions too, and you’ll be in a far happier place.

A Sense Of Ownership

Likewise, you must feel that the property is yours. Home is where the heart is, and embracing a sense of love through personality and character is key. The quickest way to do this is by using family photos and holiday souvenirs. When added to a few design features that feel just right for your family, relaxing at home will feel better than ever.

A Sense Of Satisfaction

Whether you like it or not, the chances of ever getting the home to the point of perfection are minimal. Therefore, the best you can hope for is a sense of contentment. Get those above features in place while prioritizing luxury additions. Seeing your long-term plan of action slowly come together should keep you smiling for the long haul.

Take The Power Back: Upgrading Your Home’s Electricity Supply

Is your home running on old electrics? Not only could this have a negative effect on your energy bill, you may find that your electricity supply isn’t working as effectively as it should. Here are just a few ways to modernise your home’s electricity.

Upgrade your panel

Old electrical panels are often worth getting checked out, especially if you’ve been experiencing numerous power outages recently. It’s possible your old panel might not be suitable to meet the electrical demands of a modern house. Alternatively, there could be damage that needs fixing such as corrosion or dodgy breakers. Finding an electrician that does electrical panel upgrades could be worthwhile. This is not a job you should ever do yourself without a license.

Add new sockets and lights

Getting a few new sockets and light fittings installed in your home could be worthwhile in some cases. This could prevent you having to rely on overloaded power strips and multiple plug-in lamps. You should pay a licensed electrician to wire-in these light fittings and sockets. This can be an expensive job, but it could add a lot of value to your home. When considering overhead lighting, those on a budget should consider track lighting over spot lighting.

Get rid of power-guzzling appliances

It’s worth also considering your appliances. Old washing machines and refrigerators may not be very economical in comparison to some of the appliances available today. Appliances with an Energy Star rating are worth looking out for, as they are very green and cheap to run (most of these appliances work just as well as power-hungry versions). You should also consider your light bulbs – swapping out incandescent bulbs for LEDs could also help you to save a lot of money.

Make use of smart technology

Smart technology (also known as ‘the internet of things’) is the latest household trend. This involves appliances that can be operated using your smartphone. Smart TVs, smart kettles and smart lighting are just some of the options out there. You can also switch to smart heating and air conditioning, controlling your home’s temperature from your phone. In fact, you could install a smart energy reader that allows you to take readings of your gas and electricity consumption on your phone.

Switch to sustainable power

More households are taking the decision to go off-grid, getting their power from sustainable sources. Solar panels are the most common method of generating power – these generate electricity using the energy of the sun. Shop around for solar panel installation companies to find the best rate. Another option could be to install a home wind turbine if you live in a particularly windy area. Installing these sustainable power sources can be expensive, however you’ll make up costs in the long run by not having to pay electricity bills.

Uni-Pak Mackerel Sandwich Recipe + Giveaway!

Time flies fast! It seems as though we just celebrated New Year and now it's already the month of March! From grand festivities with bountiful feast, we're now heading to the Holy Week. Philippines, being one of the only two predominantly Roman Catholic nations in Asia, it is a religious tradition to observe the Holy Week or Mahal na Araw. One of the popular practices observed during the Holy Week is fasting or meatless meals.

Just in time for the Holy Week, I have prepared yet another recipe using Uni-pak Mackerel in Natural Oil. It was also Holy Week last year when I first posted about Uni-pak and shared a recipe.

If you have been following my Instagram, you know that I am promoting healthy lifestyle. So this recipe that I am sharing with you is definitely diet friendly and is easy to prepare, this is what I had for dinner last  night.

Here's the recipe:

Uni-Pak Mackerel Sandwich

Ingredients:

2 cans of Uni-pak Mackerel (155 grams)
minced onions
1-2 tsp of lime
mayonaise (amount depends on your preferred consistency)
1 tbsp of cream (optional)
1 cup of pineapple tidbits (optional)
lettuce (optional)

Procedure:

1. Bone the Mackerel if desired
2. Mix Uni-pak Mackerel, minced onions, mayonnaise, cream and lime together
3. Season with salt and pepper
4. Spread on your bread of choice; whole grain bread for a healthier option
5. Add lettuce and pineapple in between (optional)
6. Enjoy!

It's easy to prepare and it tastes good! This is ideal for people on the go, you can prepare it the night before and have it for breakfast or even for lunch!

For a change, try switching from tuna to Mackerel. It tastes equally good but more affordable. Uni-pak Mackerel already tastes good on its own and surprisingly, there are a lot of different dishes you can come up with it. Indeed Uni-pak Mackerel is a must have in every household; hindi basta nakasanyan the best na yan!

3 Tips to Keeping the Perfect lawn made Easy

A beautiful lawn adds aesthetic value to one's property and nature at large. Keeping a perfect lawn ensures good health for you, your family, and also your pets. In the past, a perfect lawn was tiresome to achieve, despite being everyone's dream. It was hard to keep up with routine maintenance and yet keep up with your daily work. The following tips are a manual on how to easily attain a perfect lawn:

1. Frequent Mowing.

Cutting the grass helps thicken the blades. During mowing, thumbs rule should be adhered to; only cut one-third of the grass. Cutting the grass too low kills the lawn as it is deprived of its nutrients. Cutting and leaving the grass too high also leaves the weed too high and controlling them becomes a menace. It is advised to sharpen the mows blade or replace blunt blades to avoid injury to the grass that will cause the lawn to look rugged. Sharpening the blades also ensures that your equipment is highly maintained. Mowing should be done regularly with different patterns and directions to avoid the grass bending to one side.

2. Watering and fertilizing the lawn.

This process should be done to achieve a greener and healthy lawn. When planting the seeds, watering should be done early in the morning to ensure high germination of the grass. For grown grass, it requires water and nutrients for healthy growth. Nutrients need to be replenished, especially after recent mowing. The grass requires phosphorus, potassium, and nitrogen as nutrients for a healthy and a green lawn. Potassium and phosphorus are easily found in the soil and they are not easily lost as compared to nitrogenous fertilizers. Therefore, when choosing a fertilizer, nitrogenous fertilizers are highly recommended as they ensure the leafy growth of the grass blades. These two activities can be done manually or can be automated and it depends on the size of your lawn and the time available.

3. Persistent Control of Weeds and Pest.

Controlling weeds in your lawn can be a headache if you don't know the target weed to be controlled. Small weeds can be manually uprooted with care to ensure that the weed does not grow back and at the same time, great care is taken to avoid injury to the grassroots. The uprooting should be done at the right season before the weeds pour out its seeds. Leafy weeds can be controlled by spraying them with right herbicide directly. Timing is of great essence, the best time to spray the herbicides is just before they germinate. Pest should be controlled with pesticides that do not harm your lawn, you or your pets. When spraying these chemicals, ensure you are properly dressed and read carefully the instructions manual. In a case where the whole lawn is infested with weeds and pest, full lawn spraying should be done with the right chemicals.

The way to achieve a perfect lawn has been made easy and there are professionals all over the world dedicated to helping you achieve your dream lawn. Ziehler lawn Care Company has trained personnel who work hand in hand with the client to help them achieve and maintain a perfect lawn of their dream. M2 Tea Drink: Delicious breastfeeding diet for pregnant and nursing moms

Are you a breastfeeding mom or are you an expectant mother who's goal is to breastfeed your little bundle of joy?

Breastfeeding can be beneficial and rewarding for both mothers and babies, but at the same time entails a lot of hard work and can be a bit tedious. I know because I breastfed Brianna for more than 2 years and it's something that I am very proud of doing.

In order to keep quality breast milk supply sufficient, it is essential to always stay hydrated because breastfeeding can make the nursing mother really thirsty. This means that nursing mothers need to be sipping liquids most of the day. But most important of all, the health and nutritional state of the mom must always be at the optimum to make sure quality milk is being produced for her baby.

Although water is good, it can get a bit dull as well as lacking nutritional value and content.

In 2011, NatureEarth has introduced M2 concentrate tea drink. With malunggay (moringga), okra (lady finger) and ginger as its main ingredients, it is packed with powerful nutrients, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, potassium, calcium and has been proven to significantly improve the amount of milk of nursing mothers. It is, by far, the best and most convenient diet for breastfeeding mothers, which are important for a baby’s growth. Malunggay, okra and ginger are also low calorie vegetables that are excellent sources of calcium and healthy antioxidants, important for both mothers and theirs babies.

It is a known fact that malunggay is a good enhancer of breastmilk. And to further support this claim, a case study research was conducted by NatureEarth wherein twelve moms ages 18 to 33 years old with babies ages 2 weeks to 2 months old were asked to participate. Half of them were asked to drink one glass of M2 concentrate tea drink daily, while the other half were asked to drink 2 glasses. After a month of regularly drinking M2 concentrate drink, the 6 mothers who drank 2 glasses daily claimed they produced more breast milk. While the other 6 who drank only a glass did not notice any changes on the quantity of their breast milk.

On the second month, all mothers claimed to have an increased amount of milk being produced, including the ones who only drank a glass daily.

Then on the third month of continuously drinking M2 concentrate drink, everyone noticed that they felt better because no one got sick during the three-month period and there was an ease in bowel movement. Some mothers even claimed that their skin became smoother.

M2 Tea drink is available in concentrated form wherein you still need to dilute it in water and the other one is the ready to drink.

There are many ways to drink your M2 Tea Drink, add milk to make your own milk tea or just add lime. It can also be served hot or cold.
Early this month, I received a box of M2 Tea Read-To-Drink, this is the first time that I actually heard about this product and all I can say is that it stays true to it's claim that it is "Surprisingly delicious. Refreshingly nutritious!". I recommend it not just for breastfeeding mommies but to just about anyone who needs a quick vegetable fix, even kids love it!

Here comes the exciting part of this post, a giveaway! I will be sharing with you some bottles of M2 Tea Drink, head on to Instagram and FB for the mechanics!

This cool and refreshing tea is available in all Robinsons Supermarkets and Andoks Litson Manok stalls.

Share The Love: 5 Ways To Show Your Parents You Care

When you become a mom, it can be easy for your view of the world to focus solely on your children. You still love your parents, of course, but your world has shrunk, and you find yourself completely consumed by the lives that you are nurturing and raising-- it’s inevitable, understandable, and incredibly relatable.

Your parents, of course, understand this; they likely went through the same thing themselves when they had you. However, you may occasionally find yourself wanting to do something for your parents; something that helps to show them that, no matter how busy you are, they still mean the world to you.

Taking the time to do something nice for your parents is always going to be appreciated. Below are five different options that are guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of the people who raised you. Anything you can do to make their lives easier, improve their world, and -- ultimately -- bond you closer as a family will always be appreciated. Below are several options that can help improve the life of your parents, from small practical help to big grand gestures; whatever your preference, there will be something that suits your family here…

#1 - Spend a day with them alone

“Alone” in this case means “without your children”.

There’s no doubt that your parents adore your children and will absolutely revel in their role as grandparents. However, when was the last time you spent a little time on them just you and them, without your children?

For most moms, the answer to the above is likely to be “I can’t remember”. If that’s the case for you, then spending some time with just your parents can be a wonderful, unifying experience that you all enjoy. Whether you go out for the day or just prepare a lunch for them at your home, you’ll all find the experience incredibly beneficial and affirming.

#2 - Help them unravel a knot

Figuratively speaking, that is!

When you are busy with your everyday life, your parents will likely avoid asking you for help and advice. They do this because they don’t want to bother you, even if they know you would drop everything to help them if they asked. They don’t want to ask, as they don’t want to stress you… and their knot keeps getting bigger and bigger.

This is why, sometimes, you’ll need to ask if they have any knots in their lives that you could help them with. Here’s a variety of areas you may want to explore:

Health. Are they receiving the appropriate healthcare? Are they happy with their doctor? Have they investigated their insurance options by taking the chance to read more at gomedigap.com about supplemental insurance? Are they happy with the medication they are taking?

Finance. Are they confident about their finances? Do they need any advice? Do they know what their tax responsibilities are?

Household. Are there any household jobs they need doing? When is the last time their central air was serviced? Are there any yard chores they need assistance with? Is their insurance up to date?

Well-being. Are they taking time for themselves? Is there anything they are worried about? Is there anything that is stopping them from socializing as much as they might wish to?

Obviously, you don’t want to demand answers to these questions directly-- they should be used more as a part of general conversation. When a knot reveals itself, spend a little time helping them unravel it; sometimes, fixing the small things is just as wonderful as a grand gesture.

#5 - Host a movie night

A movie night may sound like a fairly standard idea, but here’s how you make it a special treat for your parents: show only their favorite movies. You can find out their favorites in general conversation a few weeks before the big night, then surprise them with a movie night selection specified to their tastes on the night itself. If you want to make the night extra special, then add in a few touches for the perfect movie night from the guide on the guide on lemonlimeadventures.com

#4 - Help them organize an aspect of their lives

You may find that your parents need a helping hand with organization of their lives from time to time.

Here are a few areas they may require organizational assistance with:

Their home. If the house is not well-organized or is in need of a good declutter, they will appreciate the offer to help them tackle the issue.

Their record-keeping. The older your parents are, the more likely they are to have a huge amount of paperwork clogging up their home. Spend a day helping them to digitize their files so as to keep track of things as efficiently as possible.

Their garden. For older people, constant maintenance of a garden can be extremely testing, especially during the winter months. If you notice there’s weeding that needs doing, then volunteering for the task is a great way of improving their lives in a small, but significant, way.

If you notice any of the above aspects are in need of some attention, then offer to help in any way you can. They may refuse out of preference to manage the issue themselves, but they’ll be delighted you asked.

#5 - Arrange for relaxation

Giving your parents the chance to relax and enjoy themselves, without having to worry about the basic requirements of everyday life for awhile, is the perfect way to show you have been thinking of them.

Gift them a set of homemade “coupons”. These coupons can be redeemable for anything; common examples include “1 hour of vacuuming” or “a day trip to the city of your choice”.

Arrange for a cleaner to visit their home for a week, so they don’t have to worry about household chores.

Arrange for a gardener to improve their outdoor space as a one-off, just-because gift.

Invite them to stay at your house for the weekend, so they don’t have to worry about their own housework and chores for awhile.

All of the above are gifts in a sense, but they also show a huge amount of thought-- which ultimately is what makes for the best gifts. By issuing coupons, you’re showing that you think about their needs and preferences. By arranging for a gardener or cleaner, you’re thoughtfully showing that you think they deserve some time to relax, and you want to help them achieve that.

In conclusion

The five ideas above are all lovely ways to show your love for your parents, ease their lives, and perhaps even make a few extra memories. Whichever you choose, you are guaranteed that your parents will be truly delighted by your efforts.
