Dear Moms, Here's What Can Be Done In Half An Hour

There is not a mom in the world that wouldn’t wish for more hours in the day. That is because it is always so fast and furious, and when we do get a half hour break here and there we don’t really know what to do with ourselves. Not because we don’t have anything to do but because there isn’t much we can do in that half an hour between dropping the eldest off at school and the little one’s doctor’s appointment. At least, that is what we tell ourselves.

The truth is, however, that there are plenty of things that can be done during those half-hour breaks where your kid has fallen asleep or whatever; it is just a matter of knowing what, prioritizing and being efficient about it.

With that in mind, I have pulled together a list of things you should consider doing next time you find yourself with an awkward gap of time available to exploit:
Catch Up On Calls

There is always someone we haven’t spoken to in a while or, worse yet, someone who calls we keep missing-slash-ignoring because the time isn’t great. That is where thirty minutes becomes plenty. Call your mom or dad for a quick catch up, call your best mate to say you miss them, check in with your siblings. All you need to say is that you were thinking of them. Done.

Sign Up To Something

The world knows that time is of great importance, which is why so many people now cater to people whose time is fragmented; people who want to commit to things but can only commit in their time. So sign up for that cooking class you heard about, or that online yoga-class Susan mentioned or even that creative writing course you always fancied. What better way is there to spend a half-hour.

Make A Little Cash

You’ll be amazed at how much cash you can make in just half an hour if you know what you are doing. It could be that you sign up to be a virtual assistant, where you pick and choose how much time you dedicate. You could try your luck on bigteasebingo and see what you walk away with. It could even be that you scan your house for anything that you don’t use or like anymore and plonk it on eBay for a little bit of dollar. It doesn’t matter, making money in that gap of time you’re not using is going to leave you with a sweet feeling.

Declutter Somewhere

It is one of the things Mom’s start to realize pretty soon: there is always somewhere that needs decluttering. It could be the living room, it could be the kids' toy basket, the bathroom, or the fridge, the cupboards or even just your wardrobe. It could be that you only have time to declutter your bedside table drawer. How big or little your effort doesn’t matter because decluttering something is better than decluttering nothing.

Make A Smoothie

The great thing about making smoothies is they are quick, nutritious, delicious and can be enjoyed on the go no matter how hectic the rest of your world is. So use this breathing space to grab a handful of fruit and a handful of greens, throw in some water or some juice, add that frozen banana you just found in the freezer and some ice cubes, the avocado that is looking on the fence and create something epic.
