Is Staying In The New Going Out? Great Date Ideas

If you’ve been with your partner for a long time, you have kids, or you have a busy schedule, the opportunity to plan nights out may not come around very often. The good news is that many people are embracing the notion that staying in is the new going out. Since when did you have to leave the house to have fun? If you’re keen to spend some quality time together without blowing the budget or trying to get your head around the logistics, here are some great date ideas.

Movie night

If you usually go to the movies when you have an evening free, why not switch things up a bit and watch a movie at home instead? You can save money on tickets, choose your own snacks, and watch the film in your favorite comfy clothes. You could watch a movie you already own, hire a DVD or rent a film through your digital TV provider. If it’s warm outside, you could even set up a screen and a projector and host your own al fresco screening. If it’s cool, grab some blankets and cushions and cozy up on the sofa.

Games night

Do you love playing games? Are you and your partner ultra competitive? Whether you enjoy board games or you’re avid fans of the latest console or PC releases, you can set up a games night in seconds. Choose a game and see who comes out on top, or plan a tournament to see who is the ultimate champion. Click here for ideas for live games or check out reviews of the latest offerings for your console in gaming magazines. Stock up on snacks, get comfy and make sure you’ve got everything you need to hand. You can play online, boot up your PC and enjoy the old platform games or try something new.

Dinner date

If you’re a foodie and you love nothing more than going out to eat why not celebrate your culinary skills and treat your partner to a homemade feast? You can recreate some old classics or go through some recipe books and search for inspiration for a new menu. Keep things simple, so you don’t have too much to do, and you can enjoy the evening. If you opt for cold starters and desserts you can prepare in advance, you’ll save yourself time and stress when it comes to putting everything together at dinner time. Set the table, add some flowers and candles, put some music on, and dim the lights. If you’re not a good cook, but you’d rather stay in and chill out than going out, you could always look into booking a chef for the evening or ordering a takeout.

Do you find it difficult to get out or are you conscious of spending money? It can be difficult to find the time and the money to plan dates, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy your partner’s company. Being together and having fun doesn’t always mean going out. Hopefully, these ideas have given you some food for thought, and they’ll allow you to enjoy date nights more often.
