What do I want to give to the Philippines? Usually it’s the other way around since every new year what we desire is to “Receive” something new instead. I’ve thought of giving money but I have my own expenses. I’ve thought of giving love but I’m not loved enough myself. How about food? I’ll be hungry later on or What about clothes? Nah my clothes are too expensive.
If you noticed there’s so many things we can give
however there’s also so many excuses and reasons that hinders us to see the
importance of sharing. Let’s not wait for nature’s wrath like typhoons and
earthquake before we take actions. Helping can happen even if it’s not needed
but because it’s the right thing to do which can benefit your fellowmen.
A peso coin can save someone’s life that needs to
buy a medicine. Remember the saying a million peso wouldn’t be a million if it’s
missing even just a peso coin? No value is too small. Giving love and showing
care to someone can mean the world for a lonely or sad person. At the end of
the day you both end up with friends you can trust and rely on. When you have
some left over from restaurant most of us end up leaving it behind where
restaurant staff throw it out in the garbage can. We think it’s a hassle and
were shy to ask for it. What we tend to overlook is that even a piece of bread
can already serve as a meal for the entire day to a child in the street. The
clothes that we wore and are now stuck at our closet can give warmth to another
person’s life.
I’m not trying to encourage others to rely on alms or donations.
I just want them to feel the love and kindness of someone else to save them
from the thought of being entirely alone in this world.
If given the chance. What I want to give to the Philippines is an organized
fund raising event called: “Open up your hearts” A concert for different kinds
of foundations. If possible with artist who are also advocates of giving and
sharing. This is to encourage everyone to have their hands open in terms of
giving freely no matter what the situations is.
All of us have the brain to think logically but only
few are open minded. This 2014 I also want to give the Philippines an eye that
can see the value of small things for other people. Throw away your excuses and
reasons to lift up your sense of helpfulness. You don’t lose when you give
because you gain so much more like; happiness, fulfillment, love and friendship
that no money can buy in this world.
