Tips On Celebrating Your Child's Birthday

Planning a birthday party for our children could be quite stressful because we want to make it a special moment for everyone involved, especially our children right? Family members, friends, and our child’s friends (and maybe even family if you know them) should all be invited to make it an occasion worthy of how brilliant and loved your child is. A lot of parents simply decide to hold the birthday party in their home, but this can be more stressful. From answering the door constantly to invitees, to the phone ringing with people wanting to wish your child happy birthday, to preparing the party food, to making sure everyone has a drink, to unwrapping the presents and taking photos of your child, all aspects of a party at home can mean you will not enjoy the occasion as much as you had hoped.

There is an answer to this, though. Hold the party somewhere else where any potential stress will be taken away from you and you can relax and enjoy the party completely. There will be lots of venues in your area which will be more than happy to cater for your needs. If you would like a bouncy castle and soft play area, contact indoor play centers, organized if you would like a day of fun and adventure then it may be worthwhile to contact an outdoor skate park or local nature reserves. If you would like it to be a calm and mature affair, contact restaurants in your area. It will be surprising how many venues cater for children’s parties. Hiring a venue will cost considerably more than holding a party at home, but it does mean all the work will be done for you.

Greek Life: The Parent's Guide to Sororities and Fraternities

Time flies so fast, and as much as we wish for our children to remain little, that's not possible. So facing up to the fact that your son or daughter is finally growing up and becoming an adult can be difficult for parents. But it’s best to be armed with all the facts before you help them pack their bags and send them off to college. Sororities and fraternities are often a big part of college life for many students. Many parents, however, know little or nothing about Greek life and what it means for students. This guide will change all that.

Effects on Studies and Academic Focus

When your son or daughter is part of a sorority or fraternity, it can have an effect on their studies. Many parents assume that this impact is a negative one. And if students get too distracted by the social aspects of Greek life, that can be the case. But for most students, the impact they have on their academic focus can be hugely positive. Mentoring and academic activities are actually very common.

The Social Aspect

One of the biggest things that appeal to students is the social aspect of being part of a sorority or fraternity. This is something that allows them to make friends at college quickly. And these friendships often turn out to be lifelong. There is a brotherly or sisterly bond between people who are part of the same chapter, so it’s important to many students. Without this, they can find it more difficult to fit in at college.
