Be Fabulously Fit with Nestlé Fitnesse

Maintaining a healthy and fit body could be a challenge, especially to women who just gave birth. Pregnancy causes a lot of changes to a woman’s body. Some are just temporary but some no matter how unwanted stays, thus putting their self confidence inside the box and I am no exception. I'm a mom of 3 kids with my youngest whom i gave birth 2 years ago. I actually waited for at least a year when my baby has finally established her eating pattern and not just solely depending on my liquid gold. Yes, I breastfed my baby which made me gain more weight because I have to eat healthy including more calories since I am eating for the 2 of us. (excuses excuses haha)

Couldn't find photos of me back then. I guess I used to hate the camera. Haha!
After quite a long hiatus, I finally decided to fulfill my goal of staying fit. But the question is a big HOW?! I don’t like the idea of having to starve myself because I love to eat, nor enrolling in to a gym as I really don’t have the time. It was indeed challenging, but I have to get going. I began with some basic exercises at home but the problem is I have to modify my diet and that’s when I discovered Nestlé Fitnesse.

Nestlé Fitnesse breakfast cereals are made of whole grain, which makes it a healthy choice. Whole grains are unrefined grains that contains all the 3 edible parts- the bran, the germ, and the endosperm providing more protein, more fiber and many important vitamins and minerals. Studies show that eating whole grain foods helps you to maintain your waistline over time, making it a girl's best friend, my best friend for quite a while now. :)

I used to skip breakfast thinking it will help me lose weight but I noticed that skipping breakfast makes me reach for unhealthy snacks around mid morning. Not good right? So I quit skipping breakfast and started filling my bowl with Nestlé Fitnesse cereals, Nestle non-fat milk and some fruits. With many delicious varieties to choose from, breakfast has never been this healthy and delicious!

I realized that I really don't have to deprive myself with the things I love. All it takes is a balanced diet including Nestlé Fitnesse, active lifestyle, a right mind set and most importantly is to make sure that I'm having fun! Maintaining a healthy and fit body isn't that hard after all.

I've always been in love with swimming it's one of my favorite sports. Now I can be fabulous while swimming because I can fit to my swim wears already. I can't wait for more beach moments as now I'm bikini ready!

Staying fit should come from within and it will naturally radiate on the outside. Now I can confidently say that I'm a mom of 3 yet I still feel and look Fabulously fit! The title "Mom" is not an excuse for you to neglect your body. Make it as your  motivation to take care of yourself because if you're healthy, you could take more care of your family.

Filipinos who sit more than 6 hours every day at risk of acquiring chronic diseases.

I'm posting this interesting article because it relates to me as I was once a call center agent and spent roughly around 7 and half hours sitting down at work while talking to customers.

Studies have shown that up to 70 percent of people spend their working hours sitting more than six hours per day, unknowingly putting themselves at risk for developing chronic non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and hypertension.

People working tend to neglect the benefits of exercises which i'm guilty of when i was still working in the corporate world.

But lack of physical activity is not only occurring in the working population. According to Dr. Paul Quilino, Medical Affairs manager at Healthway Medical and wellness advocate, healthy sports and recreational activities are becoming less of the norm in our society regardless of gender and age. It is widely accepted that physical activity plays a critical role in keeping one’s health and wellness in prime condition. In fact, Quilino stressed that an active lifestyle “promotes proper growth and development of the bones and muscles, helps burn stored energy, keeps cardiovascular system in tiptop condition, and helps improve overall physical endurance and agility.” “This makes the shift to a more active lifestyle all the more important,” Quilino said. “Exercise and physical activity are probably two of the most cost-effective and significant factors that one can engage in, to help lessen the risk of developing chronic diseases. With this, Filipinos, regardless of their age, should keep a close watch on their sleep, diet, and exercise to meet in order to stay healthy.” To ensure that Filipinos achieve the most desirable lifestyle, Healthway Medical—the most trusted and preferred mall-based clinics in the Philippines—promotes its Sleep, Eat Right, Exercise, and De-stress (S.E.E.D.) program to underpin the importance of an active and preventive healthcare especially to the working group.

According to Carmie de Leon, vice president for sales and marketing of Healthway Medical, exercise is always lauded as an effective tool in preventing all kinds of diseases. However, being active is not the sole factor that plays part in curbing a sedentary lifestyle.
De Leon said, “People who work eight hours or more daily have the responsibility take care of themselves in any way possible. Just like Dr. Quilino noted, taking the initiative to walk at least 20 minutes a couple of times within the week may help your body adapt to different physical activities. Eventually, you can slowly progress to brisk walking, then jogging, then running in greater lengths and frequency.”
When Filipinos adopt this routine, they may challenge themselves to add distance or intensify the workout until they finally get rid of such sedentary lifestyles, Quilino added.

Aside from moving a step closer to health and wellness, he said “the main goal in any ideal diet is to maximize intake of essential nutrients which are often found in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and lessen intake of those which are known to increase our risk for chronic non-communicable disease.”
“Practically, the only way one will be able to follow such recommendations is by adapting and tailor-fitting these in their own socio-cultural preferences, as well as medical and physical needs,” Quilino added.
To further nurture one’s physicality, Quilino highlighted the importance of quality sleep in ensuring work productivity.

“In all ages, sleep induces secretion of certain chemicals in the brain, which in turn signals to the whole body to regenerate. And it’s not just the length of sleep we get butthe quality of sleep as well,” Quilino said.
Quilino added, “Some studies point to the benefits of early sleep (within the first 4 hours of sleep), deep sleep on the 5th to 7th hour and near waking. What we want to point out here is that to function normally awake, we also have to care about the amount and quality of sleep we get.”
Because of today’s generation’s affinity to digital gadgets, Quilino emphasized that these modern-day technologies play a greater role in affecting people in decreasing their time and interest in more physical recreational activities. Digital gadgets effectively decrease physical activity and also play a role in disrupting one’s sleep-awake cycle, reducing sleeping time, hence, a good way to achieve quality sleep is to “keep yourself from using your phone before you sleep.”

“Most mobile games aim to instantly gratify their users, and in effect, feed (and increase) their appetite to even play more,” Quilino said. “The unwanted contrast against playing outdoors becomes more magnified and feeds into the vicious cycle. Light stimulation (not necessarily the radiation) during the sleep phase of our natural sleep-wake cycle signals the brain to stay alert, and therefore, stay awake. With this, Filipinos should opt to minimize their gadget use especially when they’re hitting the bunk.” De Leon, on the other hand, said that while sleeping, eating right, and exercising are important pillars in achieving wellness not only in terms of mental health but also physical and social well-being, it is also crucial to take a break once in a while to curb work-related stress.

“Work-related stress is the body’s common response when people are confronted with work demands that do not match their knowledge and abilities,” De Leon said. “Since it challenges their ability to cope, 75 percent of adults experience moderate to high levels of stress, which is quite alarming.”
She added, “People who work hard to give their families a more comfortable life also need to have that comfort for themselves. With this, they need to take a break from their daily routines and do something that de-stresses them,” De Leon said.

Facts and Effective ways to avoid mosquitoes!

Small but terrible is practically the best way to describe a mosquito. It sips away your blood with a chance to cause either malaria or dengue. It’s considered as the deadliest insect in the world. We as parents are the protectors of our children. Here are some facts and tips to keep those bloodsuckers away:

  • We have our color preferences for clothes but did you know that a mosquito does too? It’s more attracted to black or dark shades of clothing. (Black, Red, Blue) than light colors (white, khaki, green or yellow).
  • Ever wondered why your parents wanted you to wash your feet before going to bed? (They used to tell me that I’ll have a nightmare of becoming a pig if I don’t. LOL!) Mosquitoes are actually attracted to smelly feet so make sure to tell you kids to clean theirs too.
  • Sweats and Body Odors are like the go signals for mosquitoes to attack. Taking a bath daily is a good solution. Kids are naturally active and energetic which cause them to sweat a lot. You can remind them to always bring a small face towel to wipe their sweat and put some baby powder on them.
  • Blood Type! Research shows that depending on your blood type our body secretes different scents. Mosquitoes are less attracted to A-types while more attracted to O-types. Oh my, the ever giving blood type O which is also the most requested in hospitals. Unfortunately we can’t change this. :(
  • Aquariums! I have been wanting to get one and fill it with fishes. It’s gives the place a good ambiance and it’s fun to look at. Now if you’re worried that it might be a cause of Mosquitoes, what you can do is add a mosquitofish which feeds on mosquito larvae.
  • Bug Zappers are pretty much useless against mosquitoes, unless it’s a swarm of mosquitoes flying in your house. It’s more likely to kill other insects like moths.
  • These blood suckers are also like vampires. It avoids the smell of garlic but hey we wouldn’t want to smell like garlic right?

I hope you had fun reading and if ever those are a little bit too much to remember you can always try ATC’s STRIKE
I first tried the mosquito liquid repellent starter kit.

You just plug it in a place that you want to be off limits to mosquitoes.

It can last up to 40 days with approximately 8 hours per day. I tested it in our bathroom which seems to have some mosquitoes flying here and there. It was very alarming indeed. I believe it might be because of some places that water have accumulated. Fair enough after using this product I've seen dead mosquitoes around the sink, the floor and shower area. It sounds nasty but thankfully now it's mosquito free. I'm currently using it on our bedroom whenever we're sleeping. The smell isn't that strong that you'll barely notice it even with airconditioner.

ATC's STRIKE Multi Insect Killer

A little bit on the heavy duty side? We've used a different brand before but seems to have been a failed attempt to get rid of mosquitoes. The last time we went out for a few hours, we sprayed the whole house with this water based insecticide spray and said goodbye to those pest.

Let's all STRIKE down those pest and say hello to a safer home.

Yellow Cab's Pizzarrific Opening at Centennial Road Cavite

I've always been a fan of Yellow Cab though we don't have a branch in my hometown back then. I remember travelling up to 2 hours just to get a taste of their great pizzas, because the nearest branch happens to be in Baguio City. Oh The things I'll do for some good pizza.

Yellow Cab Pizza Co. also has good stuff happening to all people from the South, especially to those who are around Gen. Trias Cavite!

Yellow Cab's latest branch is located at EPZA-Tejero Bypass Road (Centennial), Brgy. Bacao II, Gen. Trias Cavite, they already had their soft opening last October 31, 2015.

Menu

And, last November 4 was their Pizzarrefic grand opening which I was invited together with two fellow bloggers and Ms. Irene Layno of Yellow Cab Team. We arrived around 12 noon to a busy store since it was already lunch time. The store isn't that big, I believe it can accomodate up to 30 diners only at a time. But they set up an extension outside to accomodate more, since they also have some opening promotion for diners.

No matter how busy, we were welcomed warmly by the friendly staffs and our needs were attended accordingly. While waiting for our foods to be served, we began with the pizza making activity. The activity was set by 2 batches, 2 bloggers at a time and my 2 fellow bloggers went in first. The other blogger didn't make it to the event so it was just me for the second batch.

I was a bit nervous at first but eventually enjoyed making my own pizza, the Yellow Cab way! I was taught and assisted by sir Franco to make one of their best seller pizza, the New York's Finest which happens to be one of my favorite. Yey!

The pizza dough was already prepared so we just did the toppings, which are the following:
1. Pizza Sauce
2. Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese
3. Pepperoni
4. Ham
5.  Bacon
6. Ground Beef
7. Garlic
8. Onions
9. Red and Green Bell Peppers
10. Mushroom
11. Olives
12. Italian Sausage
13. Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese

I'm not really sure if I got the spices in the right order but what I do know is that each of them comes in generous amount. Each spices are weighed and are carefully patterned with the goal of covering the entire dough up to the crust with toppings. And, that's what makes their pizza really great compared to other pizzas wherein the toppings are mostly just around the center leaving the edges of the crust empty. Aside from learning I definitely had fun especially on the part where Sir Franco told me to toss the Italian Sausage with feelings, as if I'm mad haha. I wasn't so sure if he was just joking or he really meant it, but I did what he said anyway (lol).

After filling the crust with toppings, here's what it looked like.

Ready to be baked in the oven for 5 minutes under 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

While waiting, I had a quick lunch, Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta and Hot wings!

Finally my pizza is done and I get to slice it too!

Ooooh! It looks deliciously gorgeous!

After the pizza making, we got the chance to meet and have a small talk with the owners, Dr. Leonard Lao (wearing blue polo) and Dr. Ismael Mercado (wearing yellow polo) of Divine Grace Medical Center.

Picture with the owners, fellow bloggers and staffs

When asked why they chose to franchise Yellow Cab, Dr. Mercado answered:
"We do believe in the company, and whenever we go to Manila or elsewhere we would always hang around Yellow Cab so we thought why not just bring it here!"

Now they don't have to go far just to relax and hang out because their store is just very accessible to the hospital where they work.

The Store opening was indeed a Pizzarrific success, thank you so much for having us!

Visit them now at, EPZA-Tejero Bypass Road (Centennial), Brgy. Bacao II, Gen. Trias Cavite or call them at 416-9999 for delivery.
