6 Tips to help your child cope with distance learning

Amidst the mandated lockdown brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, we all have adapted to the "new normal" way of living, and that includes remote learning or distance learning.

While homeschooling is already a thing, the majority of families here in the Philippines are used to school-based learning or traditional education which makes the transition a bit stressful. Some of the factors that contribute to the stress are, not having a stable internet connection, no gadget to use for remote learning, and working parents who cannot monitor their children.

We have our share of challenges and stress as well, but I am saving that topic for another post. This post is intended to share with you some tips to help your kids transition or cope up with distance learning. They may not know how to say it, but kids do feel the stress and pressure too.

6 Tips to help your child cope with distance learning

1. Designate a study/learning area

An area conducive to learning is important to help them focus on their lessons. It doesn't have to be an entire room especially if you only have a small space. It can be in any part of your house as long there are no distractions. This will help set their minds, that as soon as they are seated in that area, they'll know that it is study time.

2. Set a routine, but be flexible

Set a sleep schedule, wake them up at the same time every day, better if they take a bath, eat their breakfast, have them wear their uniform (optional) just like how it is done when they are going to school. This helps set the mood.

When it comes to their activities, arrange them according to the level of difficulty, whether they can do it on their own, or if it needs your supervision or help, and allot time for it. Work out a flexible timetable to avoid putting pressure on your kids but also making sure that they keep up with the lessons.

Accomplish activities as soon as you can to avoid piling up activities, as this is more stressful. I swear!

3. Communicate with your kids

Pay attention to their mental health. Talk to your kids, allow them to express how they feel, and be understanding and compassionate about it.

4. Schedule fun time

They may be home 24/7 and can play when they want (especially when done with their school activities) but nothing beats spending time with you. Make time to play with them or allow them to have virtual playdates with their friends.

5. Prepare nutritious food as well as their favorite snacks

Preparing nutritious food is a no-brainer. Children need these to help fuel their body and their mind to cope up with their daily activities. But aside from that, also prepare their favorite snacks to munch on during their breaks. Kids love to have snacks and look forward to it every break time.

6. Give them the right kind of vitamins

My kids have been taking Bio-Fit Plus for 9 months already and so far, they are hiyang.

I just got an update that Bio-Fit Plus is having a packaging glow up, coming soon! The new and improved design corresponds to their new campaign that surely fits with our current challenges, with regard to our children's distance learning.

“MEMORYA at RESISTENSYANG maluFIT sa Batang bio-fit”

Bio-Fit Plus contains the most components against any other vitamins and minerals in the market, aside from that Bio-Fit Plus is also the only vitamin for kids that contains the combination of Folic Acid, other B-Vitamins, Vitamin C and Zinc in just one bottle.

Folic acid has a synergistic effect with other vitamin B-vitamins for further brain development that may enhance memory. Suitable for children's day-to-day activities, online schooling, and soon face-to-face classes.

Vitamin C & Zinc is immune system booster that may provide a stronger and healthier body.

It is indeed a tough time for everyone and we still don't know what the future holds. So we must have a sound mind and body to be able to cope up with all the changes that are happening and will happen. And, let's help our children too, so they may be able to thrive despite the adversities.
