Summer is everybody’s favorite time of year. It’s time to get out in the sun. With the kids off school, it can get quite expensive taking them on days out all of the time, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have an enjoyable summer with the whole family. There are plenty of activities that you can do that won’t cost you too much money. Here a few ideas for money saving days out for the whole family.

Bike rides are a great idea for a summer activity. They are a good opportunity to get some exercise for free and can help you explore the local area. You might need to invest a bit of money in some bikes if you don’t have any already, but you can always check places like craigslist for cheap second-hand ones. You can use route planners to keep track of how far you are cycling and try to increase your distances on regular rides throughout the summer. 

Getting Adult In The Bedroom

Any parent knows that kids mark the end of your home being a place of calm. No longer will your floors be clutter free. Expect toys at every step, and little people running around your feet. Oh, and kiss goodbye to that furniture you’ve always dreamt of. That is unless you want crayon marks all over it. In many ways, kids light up a home. They bring character and love and are well worth the sacrifices. But, that doesn’t stop us from missing the home we always imagined. What if we were to tell you that there’s still a space you can make your own? Your bedroom will remain your sanctuary, even after you’ve had children. Here’s how to make the most of it. 

GET A LOCK ON THE DOOR

Let’s be honest; children can find it hard to respect personal boundaries. They’ll learn, with time. For now, though, get a lock installed on your door. Don’t make a big thing of this, or your kids may get upset. Install the lock without mention. You don’t even need to use it when you’re in the room, but having it there will make an instant difference to the space. It also means you can lock the door when you aren’t around. That'll ensure none of the beautiful things you’ll be filling that space with come to harm. Knowing that you don’t have to worry will allow you to get the space perfect without holding back. If you don’t want to go the extreme of locking the door, you could try using a ‘do not disturb’ sign. But, remember what we said about children and boundaries?
