A Shopkins World Live-Experience in Shopville Manila

Shopkins, the cutest, most adorable collectible toys inspired by items found in grocery and department stores appealing primarily to little girls welcomed its fans in the first-ever Shopkins world live-experience, the Shopville Manila. 

Since its Philippine launch in 2014, Shopkins has become the most popular collectible line for girls in the country. It continues to grow in popularity and increase its fan base with each new series. Having 2 little girls and uhm being a kid at heart I was so happy to receive an invite for the May 7 event, honestly, I was more excited than Athena and Brianna. Haha! Jaear and Tristan came with us too since we also had a family event before it. We already arrived late at the Shopville Manila, missed a few activities but nevertheless the kids had a lot of fun!

Just in front of the activity area are Shopkins items, wherein you can purchase and get instant access to Shopville Manila.

For a minimum purchase of Php300 worth of any Shopkins items from April 01 to May 08 at all Toy Kingdom and Toy Kingdom Express stores, kids got one (1) day access (VIP pass) to Shopville Manila which they used to participate in arts and crafts studio, cupcake decoration boutique, Shopkins design workshop, and other activities and treats each station has to offer.

The kids enjoyed the Shopkins Candy Corner where they indulged in candy haven and satisfied their sweet cravings. 

There was a Cupcake Corner where kids can decorate their own cupcakes, we actually missed this activity since we arrived late, but we saw this cutesy Shopkins cake!

We also got to channel our artsy and crafty side with Shopkins and the magical beads of Beados and Glitzi Globes.

Kids also got to Meet & Greet Shoppies and favorite Shopkins characters, Strawberry Kiss, Lippy Lips and Spilt Milk. And to ensure that they'll remember this unique experience, pictures taken at the photo booth are uploaded in shopkinsworld.com.ph where they can post and share on their social media using #ShopvilleManila and #ShopkinsPh.

My 3 kiddos weren't able to take photos with the Shoppies and Shopkins characters because they were busy eating that time. lol 

Guest kids also got to play games on the popular Shopkins app powered by their partner, PowerMac. and got to "Design Your Own Shopkins" (where the top 5 designs will be made into a real life Shopkins)

Shopkins fans were also encouraged to bring their collections and visit the Swapkins zone where they traded their duplicate Shopkins characters with fellow collectors to complete their shopping list. One of the kids got over 300 Shopkins collections, whoa! I bet she's happy that she no longer has duplicate items or if not at least it was lessen with the swapping.

Product Review: Liquid Gold Agran Oil with Rosehip, Natures Complete Beauty Solution

Time flies by so fast, I can't believe its June already and here I am still with loads of backlogs that urgently needs my attention. So this first day of June, I'm ticking one off from my list and I'm starting off with something beautiful for all the ladies and gents too! So read on...

Last March, Annie introduced me to their product, the "Liquid Gold Argan Oil with Rosehip", after hearing a lot of good things about Argan Oil I was keen to try it out. But due to my busy schedule I wasn't able to try it out right away, hence I'm only making this review right now. 

Before I share with you my personal experience with the product, let's first talk about the benefits of the main and only component of Liquid Gold, the Argan Oil and Rosehip Seed Oil.

I know it doesn't suggest a perfect locks but as you can see, it is tamed, soft and looks more nourished. Besides, I haven't used Liquid Gold for a long time yet, I just started using it a couple of weeks ago and I only use it 2 to 3 times a week. I apply 1 to 2 drops of Liquid Gold on my damp hair paying more attention on the tip. I also tried applying it on my hair 1 hour before taking a bath, you can also leave it on your hair overnight. 

Liquid Gold can also be used for all skin types, especially normal to dry and mature. For normal to combination skin, use as a treatment three times a week, for dry skin and very dry skin use every night.

No filter and definitely no powder or other beauty products used on my face just plain Liquid Gold Argan Oil with Rosehip

As for me, I use it as a facial moisturizer after taking a bath in the morning or before bed time 2 times a week. It gives my face a natural glow. Though I admit there are times that I don't use it especially during day time and whenever I go out. Yes, it's dry oil and they are light but I'm just not used to using any moisturizer on my face during hot days it's making me feel a little uncomfortable. But overall it's perfect for overnight face moisturizer and for body too! 

I have also used up the other Gluta Oatmeal soap with Apple Stemcell and it helped me lighten my skin after getting sunburned during our Palawan trip.

Mommy Tips to Save Time in the Kitchen

Mother's are often expected to be a superwoman, juggling roles as a mom, a wife, a cook, a housekeeper, and a caregiver for the elders, and many others. By learning ways to become more efficient in performing household chores, moms can also have time to take care of themselves, and enjoy more precious moments with their loved ones. 

Below are some tips for moms to save time in the kitchen:

Be organized. “A place for everything, and everything in its place” is an incredibly useful advice to stick to. By keeping things organized in the kitchen – from the kitchenware and cutlery, to the condiments and cleaning tools, mothers will not waste time looking for the things they need.

Scout for ready-made cabinets, shelves, and drawers that fit the kitchen and serve as storage for various items. Other members of the family must also be taught to respect the order of things, as their contribution to keeping the house tidy.

Prepare (and use) ingredients and cookware smartly. Related to the first tip, an organized mom prepares all the ingredients and cookware before she starts cooking. This way, she does not run to the pantry and to the fridge each time she needs something. Then, she uses time-saving kitchen tools, including food processor for faster slicing, or blender to puree ingredients that can serve as instant
sauce or soup thickener. Ingredients like garlic or onions should be prepared in batches, and stored for future use. The order of the cooking should be smart, too: dishes that only require light sauteeing should come before those that will have strong flavors, so that the same pan or cauldron can be used even without washing. Furthermore, cookware should be washed immediately after (or soaked in water) so that it is easier and faster to remove the dirt.

The veggies can be placed in a steamer on top of the rice. Catching the Butterflies: International Thyroid Awareness Week

In celebration of the 2016 International Thyroid Awareness Week, a week-long event with the theme  “Catching Butterflies: Spotting the Symptoms of Thyroid Disorders in Children.” will be culminated on May 28, 2016 at Fisher Mall Event Center. 

The International Thyroid Awareness Week's (ITAW’s) objective is to help mothers and pregnant women spot the signs and symptoms early so they can be cured treated and children can then live normal and healthy lives afterwards.

The thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped organ in the neck, and produces thyroid hormone. Not a lot of people know how important the thyroid is when it comes to growth and development. If something is

wrong with the thyroid, it can result to hormonal imbalances that if undiagnosed and left untreated, can have a harmful effect on brain development, growth, puberty and well-being. 

Thyroid disorders affect millions of Filipinos, yet very few are aware of them. One in 11 Filipino adults has goiter, and around one in 12 Filipino adults suffers from some form of thyroid disease. It is estimated that eight out of every 1000 children worldwide are affected by thyroid disease.

Awareness should never be overlooked because it could save someone’s life and help so many other people in the process. The (ITAW) is the perfect opportunity to learn more about how the thyroid gland and the thyroid disorders that affect one’s metabolism. 

The “Catching Butterflies: Spotting the Symptoms of Thyroid Disorders in Children”  event will have two colorful mascots representing the two different thyroid disorders.

HYPO, the green-blue, slow and sluggish butterfly represents hypothyroidism; and HYPER, the pink, thin and overly active butterfly represents hyperthyroidism. Apart from being very colorful, the two mascots show how thyroid disease can affect children’s minds, bodies and metabolism.

The use of the HYPO and HYPER mascots makes it easier for both children and parents to understand the difference between hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. It also gets rid of the fear of disorders since it is much easier to grasp thanks to the mascots’ descriptions. 

Apart from having a lecture, there will also be a screening and a checkup for those with the symptoms of thyroid disorder, as well as consultation and compliance in treatment.

The “Catching Butterflies” event will cover more than just health awareness; there are tons of events that will make it enjoyable. Going with the theme of pretty butterflies to represent the thyroid gland, there will be exciting prizes, butterfly clay art, caricature, cookies, dance numbers, mascots, and so much more.
