Throwback Thursday: Childhood Memories!

This Throwback Thursday has been going viral for a while now. I mean I could see a lot of Throwback Thursday posts every now and then, not that I am KJ or anything but I never get to join this craze, not until today. I bet you would be raising your eyebrows if I tell you why LOL. But to some who loves joining online contests like me would understand. Yes! You got it right, I did my first ever Throwback Thursday post for the sake of an online contest.

This contest is hosted by Baby Expo Philippines Facebook Page.

All you have to do is to post a photo of yours when you were young or a baby photo and use the Hashtag #BabyAndFamilyExpoPH. Submission of entries is until 11:59 pm only and announcement of winner will be tomorrow 12 noon. The cutest picture and caption wins 500 worth of GC from Reyes Barbecue. Not bad right?

So I scanned over our photos and good thing there were few old photos of mine that was saved on our hard drive. Yey so I was able to join and I actually submitted not just 1 but 3 entries. And here they are, including the captions.

Didn't know I was a minion ever since I was just a baby...Oh I love Banana's! #BananaLover #ThrowBackThursday#BabyAndFamilyExpoPH

Missin' the carefree moments when all I wanna do is play all day and that my only struggle is how to put on my slippers right! haha... Taken way back...long long time ago with my cousin Jayson Nuval#ThrowbackThursday #BabyAndFamilyExpoPH

They say that our first Best friend's our siblings, I couldn't agree more that's why I am thankful that I am blessed with a big sis and 2 big brothers! We may be separated by distance but forever we're family nothing could change that. #ThrowbackThursday#BabyAndFamilyExpoPH

I actually wanted to send some more entries but I thought that it's too much, OA na haha! Win or loose, it doesn't really matter because I actually enjoyed doing it. It made me look back and reminisce. Nakaka-miss talaga maging bata! I think I might do this every Thursday, makiki-join na rin sa craze. Infairness looking over the photos made me Nostalgic, but I don't wanna post any ka-dramahan here.

Let me just share some more Throwback Thursday photos:

With our eldest Kuya Sar, I would cry whenever he leaves
and go to school. (Zamboanga City)

With my Ate Flor, we have 7 years age gap. We use to
fight a lot when I was young, but turned out to best friends now.
She's now residing in the US. (Zamboanga City)

My Christening and 1st Birthday celebrated at once.
(Zamboanga City)

 With my Mom. (La Union)

I won Little Miss San Francisco. A pageant in our barangay.

 With my Kuya Mike

Yours truly, taken at Acapulco Beach, I was
around 5 years old.

I was actually thinking twice weather I should post these photos or not, pero sige na first time eh hehe!
So basing on the photos, I could tell that my childhood years was really awesome. I've been to different places already, I was born in Zamboanga City, grew up in La Union and relocated here in Manila when I got married.
Okay that's it! Before I get emotional here haha!

Till next post!

Edited: Random Haul

This is another Special Delivery Post but this time it's for the whole week so i decided to compile it all together in one post. This is one of my pending posts since I was busy the past few days.
It's already a known fact that I love joining contests,(sorry for flooding your news feed Facebook Friends :p) and luckily I also have my share of winnings. Last week was full packed because 4 days in a row I received some of my prizes, check 'em out.

Lets start with Monday, we still have a hangover from baby A's 1st Birthday when a parcel was delivered to us by Kuya Guard. It was my prize from Malayan Insurance Philippines, I only joined their Facebook contest once and luckily won. I believe they are having a giveaway every week.

 Tumbler
Baby A opening the box for me!

Tuesday's haul, my prize from [i am a dekaphobic]
2,000 GC for Yabu: House of Katsu
I haven't tried Yabu yet, but I am reading great reviews about them so I'm really excited to try 'em out. Surely I will blog about our experience once we get to use these GC's!

Wednesday, another unexpected parcel...
A metallic Pink Jewelry Box with Glittered Butterfly Design

When Kuya Guard handed it to me, I was excited especially when I read "Fragile" on the packaging and with that I already had an idea what's inside. This Jewelry Box is my prize from Ms.Jaqui Perez of Styledom
blog, it's Part 1 of her anniversary giveaway and my prize was sponsored by Sissy Shoppe. Since I moved to Manila all my accessories are in one pouch so it's all mixed up, now I can organize them all!

Thursday, no parcel. But Friday I received 2!
GC for 12-pcs Korean Fried Chicken
This arrived early while I was on my Prenatal Check up. I won this from EricJaz Foodies. We thought of using this for Kuya T's birthday but it was raining so we weren't able to go out. Honestly I haven't tried Korean Fried Chicken yet so I am also excited to try it out!
Later that day another one arrived!
Super Hydration Booster
I won this from Aloe Derma Philippines Facebook Page, first 100 Likers. It came with a Product Catalogue, and I find their products really interesting. I'm gonna give this product a try and see if it works on my skin.

I would also want to include other prizes, I almost forgot about them.
Moringana Malunggay Capsules

I won this from Moringana's  Like and Share Facebook contest last August.

3000 Voucher from Mendrez Shoes and Bags
I won this from Mendrez Shoes & Bags Facebook Page last August but the voucher was only emailed to me first week of September. It's worth the wait right? You might as well check on them because they do have promos/giveaways from time to time.

So that's my haul from different online contests. Isn't it cool? I am getting free stuff, free clothes, get to try new products, foods and Restaurants and have them all shipped right to my doorsteps. This is why I  love joining contests! Well so far I haven't won any cash and gadgets yet, (malas yata ako sa ganun hehe) but I know time will come, I'm really hoping! But of course with all these blessings indeed i'm happy and very thankful!
Do you also love joining online contests? If yes, then what's your biggest winning so far? Feel free to share :)

Happy 4th Birthday Kuya Tantan!

It's been 4 years now that my life became more meaningful. My life was changed big time since I held you in my arms and for that I will be forever thankful having you as my first born, Kuya Tantan. And now that you've turned 4, all I wish is for you to be happy. You will always be Mommy's little Man,Belated Happy Birthday Kuya Tantan!

We planned on celebrating both kids birthday together, however we thought that Kuya T has his own celebration of his 1st birthday so we might as well give baby A her 1st birthday party. Last SUnday, September 15 was Kuya T's 4th birthday. It was raining so we weren't able to go out so instead we just celebrated it at home with my in laws.
It was just a simple celebration and we decided to have it on merienda time. My in laws took care of the Cake and the Ice cream then I cooked my specialty, Creamy Tuna Pasta.
Half Box of  Ice Box Cake 325.00
Half Box of Potato Almond Crunch Cake 300.00

My mom in law bought these cakes are from Becky's Kitchen. They look very simple but tastes like heaven. So far these are the only flavor that I have tasted and loved it, I would definitely try out other flavors.
Double Dutch and Rocky Road Overload Ice Cream & Waffle Cones from my sis in law
My Creamy Tuna Pasta! (will make a Recipe post for this)
Table Set Up (extra pa yung Barbie Cake ni Athena )
While we were singing him Happy Birthday
He's really excited to blow the candle
 Playing with the cake
 Baby A
 Close up? hehe
 Nice smile Kuya Tantan!
 Sige sa Mantsa!
 Takaw :p
Here's my Babies drinking their Milks before the day ends

We forgot to give him our Present during his birthday, we only remembered it the next day.
Packed in a glittered green gift bag
Remote Controlled Race Car from Toy Kingdom
He loves Toy Cars!

A simple celebration it is but very special, I'm sure Kuya Tantan loved it. I hope that this memories would make him smile in time when he sees it.
Belated Happy Birthday again Kuya Tantan, WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!

After the celebration I noticed Kuya T was feverish, he's hot to the touch and was a bit irritable. That is why I wasn't able to blog about his birthday right away. But he is okay now, his fever only lasted for 2 days. Maybe it's because of the changing weather, in fact I am also not feeling well right now but I already have lots of pending posts so I'm trying to stay up as long as I can. Okay so that's it for now. Till next post!

Ciao!

Pregnancy Update: 31 Weeks + Prenatal Check up Issues

"31 Weeks/How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3 1/3 pounds (about the size of a coconut) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy."babycenter.com

Friday the 13th was my Prenatal Check Up with my new Obstetrician. I know, 31 Weeks and yet a new OB! I'll be telling you why a little bit later. Alright so you know how the regular check up's go right? I'm not gonna go further on that instead I would wanna talk more about the Ultrasound result.

Let's start with the amniotic fluid that surrounds my unborn baby and allows her to to float and move is Adequate so nothing to be worried about. Because High level or also called Polyhydramnios and Low level or Oligohydramnios are considered abnormal signs and might be a sign of certain condition so a close monitoring by a health care provider is required.

Next, Baby's Fetal Heart tone is 159 bpm (beats per minute) which is normal.

At 31 Weeks my unborn baby is still on Breech presentation. Breech meaning buttocks or feet first as opposed to the normal head first or cephalic presentation. It's still early to be worried though because they will eventually turn on their own over the next 2 months. But comparing this to my 2 previous pregnancy as early as 2nd trimester both Kuya T and Baby A are already positioned head first. Well every pregnancy and baby develops differently. But because of my unborn baby's presentation it was kinda hard to determine the gender, but my OB first thought it was a baby girl but then told me that we can just repeat the ultrasound on my next visit just to be sure. Oh well, we were kinda hoping it to be a boy but whatever God provides we would be more than willing to accept.

Also I don't know what her basis are but my OB told me that my baby is a bit small but not to much of a concern but she just prescribed an additional vitamins.

Based on my LMP, Last Menstrual Period my Expected Date of Delivery is on November 15, 2013 but on the Ultrasound it's November 23, 2013. This is okay though.

We just discussed some important points then after the ultrasound we then scheduled my next visit which is going to be on September 27, 2013.

Okay, so let's now talk about me having a new Obstetrician. Actually it's already my 3rd time switching and hopefully the last. When we found out that I was pregnant I first had my Prenatal at Perpetual Help Medical Center until July. But as soon as we found out that it's gonna cost us around 40-50,000 to have our baby there, we decided to look somewhere else. Seriously that is quite expensive and not practical at all since it's only J who's working. But since we haven't stayed here in Las Pinas even for a year, we are really not familiar with the whereabouts. We don't know where else to go, but we know Las Pinas General Hospital because we would always pass by the said Hospital whenever we go to Baclaran. So we gave it a try. I had Kuya Tantan in a Government Hospital way back 2009 it was in my hometown La Union, though I had my own OB and I was in a private room. If only my OB in Perpetual is affiliated to a different Hospital we may have considered her but she's not so I have to find a new one. So I had my check up twice at LPGH until I decided to look somewhere else again for the following reasons.

First, since it's a Government Hospital there are a lot of patients. I have to be there early in the morning to get a number card. Then I together with the other patients would have to wait until 10 am, because that's the time that Doctors arrive. Imagine I was there 8 am and I got the 47 number card, I have to wait 2 hours for the Doctor and few more hours to be checked because my number card belongs to the last batch. For those 2 check up's I finished past 12 nn.

Second, in a clinic/room there are like 2-3 Doctors and 3 patients at the same time. And i don't like how some Doctors could be so rude, giving unsolicited comments about patients personal life with other people around. In this way confidentiality is already violated. Seriously I don't know how some Doctors who works in a Government/Public areas could be so mean. Is it because these patients don't pay for their service should they deserve to be treated less compared to those who are paying? During my College years when I was still a nursing student, I already had this observation. Reality check, even in the health care service there is inequality. If you have money then you will be getting better service if not, then you have to deal with the consequences. Isn't it sad?

Third, J's working night shift and goes home around 9-10am and by that time the Hospital is no longer giving out card numbers. The first time I had my check up there J's doesn't have work, then for the second time since it was already scheduled I have to be there early so my in laws took the kids to the office where they work and just had J picked them up. We can't do this every time naman, so time conflict talaga.

Good thing, there's a clinic just in front of the Hospital so last September 13th I went there for the first time, and that's where I will be having my Prenatal Check up from now on. But no, I am not having my baby there, not anymore after my bad experience when I gave birth to baby A in a lying in clinic in Manila. My new OB is affiliated to other Hospitals aside from the said clinic, so I have an option as to where I would wanna give birth. But almost all the Hospitals she is affiliated to are Private Hospitals so yes we need to pay, but we already discussed about it and it's way lesser compared to 50,000. Indeed "Money talks" big time! Come to think of it, better treatment from your OB, better Hospital facilities plus no mo waiting for long periods of time, hawak mo pa oras mo.I know we were trying to be practical and would wanna spend less if possible but there's really a conflict eh, so ipon ipon din pag may time.

Friday the 13th + Peeping Tom

What's with Friday the 13th? Ever since I was a child I could recall people labeling this day to be a very unlucky day. My curiosity grows as I grew older and I was able to gather a lot of answers, especially with the help of our friend "Google".

Here are some Theories and Facts about Friday the 13th:

Fascinatingly, there is a term for the fear of Friday the 13th. It is called friggatriskaidekaphobia - "Frigg" is the Norse goddess whom Friday is named after and "triskaidekaphobia" means the fear of "13". It's also known as paraskevidekatriaphobia, partly from the Greek word Friday. It is a real fear - some people who have this disorder are even too afraid to say the words “Friday the 13th”.

Judas - 13th guest at Last Supper

Some say that the concepts of Friday and the number 13 as being an unlucky are linked to the Bible. For example, Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Jesus, has been labelled as ""the 13th guest" at the Last Supper.

Events that supposedly occurred on a Friday include the great flood during the time of Noah, the confusion of languages at the Tower of Babel, the day Eve tempted Adam with the apple, and the day Jesus Christ died. On Friday 13, October 1307, a warrant was issued for the Knights Templars to be arrested. Masses of Templars were tortured or executed by burning at the stake.

Norse God disrupts banquet

The superstition surrounding Friday 13 could also be linked to Norse mythology. According to legend, 12 gods were at a banquet at Valhalla when Loke, the demi god of mischief who was not invited, turned up, bringing the total number of guests to 13. He was responsible for the chaos that led to the death of one of the good gods – Balder – so all the gods grieved.

Egyptian afterlife

The ancient Egyptians thought the number 13 was lucky because they believed that the 13th stage of life was related to the afterlife. After the decline of the ancient Egyptian civilization the number 13 was still associated with death but with fear.

Symbols

Some people believe that the number 13 and black cats, which are associated with Friday 13, are symbols of femininity. Friday the 13th has been commercialized by Hollywood movies such as American cult horror film “Friday the 13th” and its sequels. An image of a hockey mask is often associated with the film.

Interesting right? Personally, I don't believe in this superstition, because life is what we make it. I mean yes we could set this as guide for us to be more cautious but aside from that, this shouldn't stop us from doing what we needed to do. Like today, I went out to have my prenatal check up although some are telling me not to go out because it's bad luck. But hey, I'm alive and kicking!

Oh and yes I almost forgot about "Peeping Tom" that is what I call this guy, one of the maintenance staff where we live. This guy cleans the whole building everyday, including the hallway in front of our Unit.I have caught him several times peeping on the screen door whenever he's cleaning. But I just ignored it because maybe it wasn't intentional instead I just close the door. But recently, we changed our curtain and it was kinda thin where we could be seen from the outside. And during that time when I became paranoid as if someones peeping on us. One time I saw him cleaning, I was in the living room using the computer. I noticed him peeping, as in he was even putting his head against the glass window, but I didn't look back I was just looking from the mirror. I was freaked out, since it was just me and kids so I didn't approached him and just waited for him to leave. I told J about it that night. And earlier today, I woke up to the slamming of the door and J talking in a mad and loud manner. Guess what, he also caught "Peeping Tom" looking through the window, maybe he didn't notice J because he was looking directly into the open room where I was sleeping. Busted! We then called the Property Management Office and reported the incident. Isn't it scary? But good thing we caught him in the act, so he wont have any excuse at all. I just hope this doesn't happen anymore or assign someone else to clean the building. We just don't know what this man is capable of, right? I've been hearing a lot of horrible things in the news which really scares me. By the way according to other Unit owner they also caught the same guy peeping through the window in one of the units on the same floor where we live. This is a serious thing to be ignored.

Athena's Barbie Themed 1st Birthday Party at Jollibee

It only seems like yesterday when I carried another life in my womb and gave life to a healthy baby 9 months after. It was exactly a year ago September 8, when I gave birth to our first born baby girl, same birthday as Mama Mary that's why we named her Athena Mary. And I can't believe how time flies so fast, our baby girl has turned 1 already!
baby A wearing a princess barbie outfit.

It's a very special occasion so we want this to be a memorable one, We planned on celebrating her 1st birthday with relatives and friends and with Jollibee :)
We planned about this party 2 months ahead of time.We decided to held the party in Manila although we now live in Las Pinas because our visitors are all from Manila. It was my in laws who looked for the venue, since they work in Manila, during their free time or after work they would drive around and scout for availble Jollibee branches. As early as July almost all Jollibee branches are already reserved for September parties. Good thing there's still one place that is available for September 8, 2013, it was Jollibee at Harrison Plaza. After informing us about this, we agreed to have it reserved already.

I am very thankful that my in laws are helping us out, because I really can't go out as I am taking care of 2 kids and is currently pregnant. But hey did you know that reserving a Jollibee Party can be done online? Yes, you can check it here Jollibee Online Party Reservation.

There are only 3 steps.
STEP 1: FIND a STORE

Just enter the required field.

STEP 2: PLAN YOUR PARTY

      a. Choose Your Party Theme                                      b. Party Favors

For the Party Theme, originally my mother in law chose the Hello Kitty theme but we changed it to barbie but subconsciously I was thinking about Princess theme, which they don't have (lol). Then we were informed that we couldn't change it back to Hello Kitty anymore, so we just stick to Barbie.
There is a Party Fee of Php1,250.00 and that includes:
  • 1 Jollibee Mascot Appearance
  • 20 Game Prizes
  • 1 Message Board
  • 30 Balloons
  • 10 Boxes of Crayons
We had Party Favors Add-on, a set of Barbie Theme favors with an additional payment of Php 210.00 and it consists of the following: (We reserved for 30 pax)
  • 30 pcs Party Hats with Name Tag
  • 30 pcs. Invitation Cards
  • 30 pcs. Tray Line
Thy also offer Loot Bags, which consists of Barbie themed items worth Php60. But we didn't avail of it, because we thought of having our own souvenir.

c. Choose Your Food Packages

You could have food add on's on the existing Food Packages.
Prices are VAT inclusive

You have an option to create your Meal, which is what we did and here's what we chose:
  • 30-pcs REgular Coke for a total of Php900.00
  • 30-pcs of Chocolate Sundae for a Total of Php750.00
  • 30-pcs Regular Yum for a Total of Php840.00
  • 30-pcs Chicken Joy with Spaghetti for a Total of Php2,910.00

a total of Php5,400

All of our guests are J's relatives since mine are all in the province. We invited some of our colleagues from our previous work but non of them made it, too bad they were all Athena's Godparents. Also I'm thankful that my friends Ruby and Karen made it to the party, they are the only guest from my side. Although our colleagues didn't make it we exceeded the 30 head count, our guests including us are 46 in total. So
additional 16-pcs of the food package.

d.  Theme Cakes by Red Ribbon
For the Barbie Theme Cake you can choose from Chocolate or Mocha
Medium size is 900.00

STEP 3: PAY ONLINE
You can pay for the full amount or make a Php3,000 deposit and just pay for the balance right after the party.

Okay so for the cake, I find their cake so small so we didn't avail of it and checked somewhere else instead. But the cake couldn't be served to the guest, it's only for display.

Fondant Barbie Cake which we ordered from Aling Noni's,
we also ordered our wedding cake from her.

Mini cupcakes with Personalized Toppers from Delishaes Cakes.
There is a story behind these cupcakes, I won this from their Facebook promo contest last July and decided to add this to baby A's birthday...lucky eh? You can check my post here. These cupcakes are supposed to serve as giveaways/souvenirs but then we thought that it should be something for keeps that's why we didn't have it individually boxed. But since we were all busy we weren't able to prepare any giveaways anymore :(

Jollibee also provided a tarpaulin but we can't have it so we just made our own.
