SM is now online: My ShopSM Experience!

Did you know that SM now has its online store? Yes, you read that right! You can now shop the largest department store chain in the Philippines, online anytime, anywhere through shopsm.com. This is good news for people like me who love to shop online, even more so for people living in areas without a mall and would travel to a nearby town or even the Metro just to have access to The SM Store. 

Living in the Metro, you can find SM Malls everywhere, there are 2 SM's in our city alone. That's why it's our go-to-mall, not to mention it offers a wide range of products to choose from, it's not the largest department store for no reason. But with 3 kids in tow, who could be whiny, and unruly sometimes, shopping could be daunting, and the last thing on my list. So online shopping is the way to go!

I found out about ShopSM a day before Christmas, but only got to try it when the New Year came as I was already finished Christmas shopping. I didn't buy anything for myself last Christmas, so I thought of treating myself at the start of the year. So yes, my first ever purchase for the year was from ShopSM, and the experience itself was a total treat!

Let me share with you why:

Easy to navigate website

ShopSM's website is easy to navigate. For starters, you can create your account by signing up using your Facebook or Google account. Finding your way through the website is not complicated at all. The homepage already provides you with everything you need, you just have to click through the items for more information.

Authentic and Categorized Products 

After signing up, you can now start browsing through its organized selection of products that are guaranteed authentic. It has tabs for Women, Men, Kids, Kids, Home, Beauty, there's also a Sale tab for products that are on sale regardless of the category and a New tab for New arrivals. You can filter each tab according to categories, brand, and price for you to easily find what you need. They also have a search button if you are looking for a specific item. Efficient right? You'll be finished shopping in no time. That is, of course, if you already have an idea of what to buy. But if you are like me who is indecisive, it could take a while. And this is why I love online shopping, I can take all the time I need to shop, I can do it in between chores, or while working. Talk about convenience. 

Payment and Delivery Options

After going through every category, and finally deciding on what to buy, it's time to pay! You can pay using your debit or credit card or pay upon delivery/cash on delivery. 

I chose cash on delivery as I always do when I shop online. I just feel secure in doing so. After placing my order on January 2, I received my order on January 6.

And here are my orders! It took me one whole day to decide on what to purchase. LOL. These 2 items are under the SM store beauty section.

Look how secured the items are, all wrapped up in bubble wrap. It would be nice though if they choose a more ecofriendly packaging. 

Orders within Metro Manila has a time frame of 4 days and an additional 15 days for addresses located outside of direct serviceable areas.  ShopSM sends an email to update you with the status of your order. 

ShopSM's courier is 2Go and I paid 99 pesos on top of the total cost of the items I bought.  According to their website, the 99 pesos is a promotional rate for shipping, regardless of weight or value. Eventually, the shipping fee will still depend on the location, dimensions, and weight of your item.

ShopSM also offers Click & Collect, a  FREE in-store pick up option where you can pick up your order at your selected SM branch. But this option does not offer payment upon pick up, so you have to pay using your debit or credit card. 

Click & Collect locations are only available on selected SM Stores. Don't worry as these locations are listed down as options during the checkout process.

Earn points

Just like shopping at a physical SM store, you also get to earn loyalty points with your loyalty cards such as SM Advantage, SM Prestige, BDO Rewards, Mom Card, Love Your Body, Stationery, and Ace Rewards for every purchase you make at ShopSM. So don't forget to add your loyalty card at the Loyalty Cards section of your profile before your purchase.

Overall, I am satisfied with my ShopSM experience. I didn't encounter any problems at all, whether it's with the inventory of the products or the delivery. It was hassle-free! Though I noticed that some of the products I saw at a physical SM Stores are not available online. It would be great if they could add more products. More products to choose from, the merrier, right?
